Which Airlines Offer Flights To Lecce From The US?

If you are planning a trip to Lecce from the United States, it is important to know that there are NO direct flights to Lecce, as the city does not have a commercial airport. The closest and most convenient airport is Brindisi Airport (BDS), located about 45 km from Lecce and considered the main gateway to the Salento area.

From the US, one of the easiest options is to fly with ITA Airways via Rome Fiumicino, continuing from Rome to Brindisi with a short domestic flight of around 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Another convenient alternative is SWISS via Zurich, which offers direct connections between Zurich and Brindisi. The best option will naturally depend on your departure city in the United States and the available connections on your travel dates.

There is also another interesting possibility for travelers willing to arrive a little farther north. United Airlines operates a seasonal nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Bari (BRI) during the 2026 summer season, generally from May to early September. Bari is farther from Lecce than Brindisi, but the direct transatlantic connection can make it an attractive alternative, especially for travelers departing from the New York area.

How much do flights to Lecce cost?

Airfares vary considerably depending on the US departure airport, travel dates, and how early you book. As a general indication, round-trip Economy Class fares can often range between €600 and €1,000, although prices may be considerably higher during peak summer dates.

For this reason, we recommend booking your flights at least six months in advance, especially if you are planning to visit Puglia in summer. July and August are peak season, and not only flights but also the best hotels, villas, and masserie tend to fill up quickly.

When is the best time to visit Puglia?

If your priority is sightseeing and keeping travel costs lower, autumn is an excellent time to visit Lecce and Puglia. Temperatures are milder, the main towns are less crowded, and accommodation and flight prices are generally more attractive than during the height of summer.

For a beach holiday, however, June and September are two of the best months. The weather is usually ideal for enjoying the coast, while beaches and seaside towns are considerably less crowded than in July and August. If possible, avoiding the two busiest summer months also means less traffic and a more relaxed experience along Puglia’s most popular coastal areas.

Whichever route you choose, booking early gives you the widest choice of flights and accommodation — and makes planning your stay in Lecce much easier.
